Today we’d like to introduce you to Draymond.
Hi Draymond , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in the mobile area. I moved out of there when my house was burned down twice and I had to find a home. I lived in Tuscaloosa before going to school in Troy. Music wasn’t my go to at first. I started battle rapping then it translated to music making. I made my first album after my mom passed in 2018. I decided my music sounds better talking about myself. I started talking about my relationship with my dad and losing 10 people close to me in months span. Then I had to pause in school having seizures because of Covid . I ended up eating to cope until I got 250 pounds. Later I worked it all off until I got back healthy to 170. I graduated from Troy later. I started back my music then moved to Birmingham. I perform at poetry on Peter every two weeks on Mondays. I expanded using Carliesle to shoot my music videos. Now I’m currently still living there working on my album July 10 Called hopeless romantic.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It wasn’t smooth at first you go through the phase where people don’t see the vision. As time grew my fan base kept getting bigger with shows. I used music videos and just dropping mixtapes to grow. I had to be my own promo team and visionary so it was hard because I had to stay on top of everything
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a music artist based in Birmingham Alabama. I make music I would say rapper and perform anywhere. I’m most proud of how my music inspires people who are going through a lot in life. What sets me apart is the stuff I been through didn’t define me and I grow everyday using any genre and moments to better myself.
