Today we’d like to introduce you to Malia Bell.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Wedding Photography a little over 8 or maybe 9 years ago. I actually had no intentions of doing Weddings; however, a friend asked me to photograph her wedding and it basically never stopped from there. It’s been an exciting ride that has allowed me to travel, meet new people, meet other wonderful creatives and call something really cool my job tat most people don’t get to experience. For that, I’m grateful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think anything is ever extremely smooth, especially if success comes with it. There have been highs and there have been lows as with anything in life.
When the hard moments do arrive, I try to remind myself of what all I’ve achieved and that good things are still on the way even in hard seasons. I’ve been extremely blessed with this business and that’s something I never want to take for granted.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, I photograph sessions from Family, Maternity to Newborn. I would say that I specialize in Weddings. Weddings are my happy spot. I always say that even to this day I still get nervous when I pull up to a Family session vs a wedding, I feel at home at Weddings and have absolutely no crazy nerves.
I’m most proud of the wedding imagery that I’ve created along the way. I feel like I stand out and that’s what I love. Most people say its my editing and my posing styles that allow me to stand out from others; I think its both of those mixed with a few other things but I hope I keep rockin’ whatever the magic potion is for years to come.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Sadly, I truly do not have a lot of spare time to work with others. I have thought about offering Mentorships, but I then I truly wonder if I even have the time to provide all of the details that it would need. At least for right now, I don’t see it as an option.
I do love meeting Photographers that are new to the industry and wanting to learn more about the wedding world, I love to offer them options to “Second Shoot’ to gain experience and to hopefully build bonds within the industry.
