Meet Shaniah Cooper of Alabama

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaniah Cooper.

Hi Shaniah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started to sketch and doodle as a young child. I’ve always had a love for art but it wasn’t until college when someone asked me for a penny proud painting that I began to explore with acrylic paint on canvases. I really admire abstract art because it allows me to be free. The different shapes, colors, and textures really allow me to experience an emotional wave. The idea of my artwork not being perfect allows me to be different. I enjoy creating original abstract art decor for my clients that can really make a house a home!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have a 1 year old so my everyday struggle is finding the time and balance to create abstract artwork around my son’s sleep schedule and meltdowns.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a visual artist who creates original abstract artwork with acrylic paint on canvases. I love what I do! Each painting is like an out of body experience. I love abstract art because there are no rules, you only paint what you feel. It’s a great, free feeling. I feel like I’m feeding the kid inside of me when I’m creating with different colors and shapes. I’m most proud of my commitment to staying consistent this last year! What sets me apart is my god given talent to create with my hands. Don’t hesitate to follow my Instagram @hainahs.abstractart and my Facebook art page (Art by Shaniah)

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Some may not know that I’m a woman of many talents and I used to do music as well.
