Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Lynn®.
Hi Jessie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey has never really been a straight line—it’s been a collection of passions, opportunities, hard work, and a whole lot of faith.
I grew up with a love for agriculture, horses, music, and serving others. That passion led me to earn degrees in agricultural communications and education, eventually earning my Ph.D. from Auburn University. Along the way, I discovered that one of my greatest gifts was being able to connect with people and tell stories.
Music became a major part of that story. What started as performing and pursuing my dream as a singer-songwriter grew into Jessie Lynn®, “America’s Singing Cowgirl,” and opened doors to stages, events, radio, and opportunities across the country.
At the same time, I built businesses, worked in higher education and workforce development, and eventually found my way back into broadcasting and advertising.
When I look back, I realize that every chapter, including the difficult ones, helped prepare me for the next. I’m still learning, still growing, still singing, and still chasing big dreams. My story is really about believing that you don’t have to fit into one box. You can build a career and a life around all the things you love, and sometimes the most unexpected turns lead you exactly where you’re supposed to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Hahahaha, as they say, anything worth having is worth the pain and the struggle…. Let me tell you, the struggle is real. From being the target of bullying in high school, to graduating with my Ph.D. before the age of 30, there have definitely been numerous up’s and down’s that life has thrown my direction. The beautiful part though is that amongst all of the trials and victories, I still can find an abundance to be grateful and thankful for!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is a unique blend of music, media, education, marketing, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. I’m a professional singer and entertainer known as Jessie Lynn®, “America’s Singing Cowgirl,” while also working in radio and digital advertising with Bluewater Broadcasting. I help businesses tell their stories, reach their audiences, and turn advertising into meaningful connections and measurable results.
I also have a strong background in higher education, workforce development, agricultural communications, and research, and I hold a Ph.D. in Career and Technical Education from Auburn University. Through my businesses and professional work, I’ve had the opportunity to teach, speak, emcee events, perform, create content, develop marketing strategies, and work with people from a wide variety of industries.
What I’m most proud of is that I’ve built a career that allows me to bring all of those experiences together rather than choosing just one path. Whether I’m standing on a stage with a microphone, behind a microphone in a radio studio, speaking to a classroom, or sitting across the table from a business owner developing an advertising strategy, I’m doing what I love most: communicating, connecting, and helping people tell their stories.
I think what sets me apart is that I understand both sides of the microphone. I know what it’s like to be the person creating the message and the person trying to reach an audience with it. I’ve spent years learning how people communicate, how audiences connect with stories, and how organizations can use those connections to create real impact.
Most importantly, I’ve never been afraid to reinvent myself. My career has taken some unexpected turns, but each chapter has given me another tool, another perspective, and another reason to keep saying yes to opportunities. I believe that authenticity, hard work, and the ability to genuinely connect with people are some of the most valuable things you can bring to any profession.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Nashville because it truly is the heartbeat of country music. If I had to list one complaint, it would be the parking! Especially for a cowgirl who drive a one-ton dually!
