Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashanti Lewis.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m originally from Tuskegee, Alabama, so I’m definitely a small-town girl at heart. Growing up, I’ve always loved fashion, getting dressed up, taking pictures, and expressing myself creatively. I went on to attend Alabama A&M University, where I earned my degree in Communications Media. While I was in college, I was always creating content in some capacity. I was a PrettyLittleThing campus ambassador, worked with a smaller brand as a brand ambassador, and would post outfit videos, styling content, college vlogs, and different parts of my life. I always knew I wanted to be a content creator, but at the time, I wasn’t consistent and didn’t fully take it as seriously as I do now.
That changed after I graduated from college in 2025. During the summer after graduation, I was at home watching Love Island Season 7, and one day I decided to get on TikTok and share my opinions and reviews about the show. I wasn’t expecting much from it, but my videos started gaining a lot of traction. Within a short period of time, I had multiple videos reach over a million views, and it felt like everything started taking off at once. That experience showed me what could happen if I actually committed to creating content consistently.
From there, I started posting regularly and expanded into reviewing other shows, including Big Brother and Baddies, while also continuing to create lifestyle and fashion content. I started sharing more of my everyday life through vlogs, travel content, food reviews, and real-time experiences. My travel content, including content from a birthday cruise, also performed really well. I realized that I didn’t have to limit myself to one type of content because what I really enjoy is sharing my personality and bringing people along for different parts of my life.
Today, I balance content creation with working a traditional job, but I’ve made it a priority to consistently post every week. My platform has continued to grow, and I’m currently working toward my goal of reaching 5,000 followers. I’m also exploring opportunities like TikTok Shop and continuing to build relationships with brands.
Ultimately, my goal is to become a full-time content creator. I want to continue growing my platform, working with brands, traveling, and creating content that reflects my personality and interests. I also plan to move to a new city in 2027, which I see as another opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. I know I’m still in the early stages of my journey, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come from casually posting here and there in college to intentionally building a platform and pursuing something I’ve always wanted to do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced as a content creator is figuring out how to balance the idea of having a specific niche with the type of creator I naturally want to be. There’s a lot of advice in the creator space about choosing one niche and sticking to it, but I’ve always enjoyed creating content around my actual life and whatever I’m interested in at the moment. I love fashion, beauty, lifestyle content, travel, vlogging, and reviewing the shows I’m watching, so it’s difficult for me to limit myself to just one area. I’m still figuring out how to make all of those interests work together while building a recognizable personal brand without feeling like I have to put myself in a box.
Another challenge has been building my platform from the ground up as a smaller creator. Breaking into certain spaces and getting opportunities can take time when you’re still growing your audience. Even when you create a video that performs really well, it can sometimes be difficult to turn that momentum into consistent follower growth or new opportunities. I’ve had videos reach over a million views, but I’ve also learned that going viral doesn’t automatically mean your platform grows at the same rate.
I think both of these challenges have taught me to be patient and trust the process. I’m still learning what works for me and my audience, and I’m focused on continuing to create, grow, and find opportunities without losing the freedom that made me want to become a creator in the first place.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a content creator, I create lifestyle, fashion, beauty, travel, and entertainment content centered around my personality and everyday experiences. I enjoy giving my audience a look into different parts of my life through vlogs, outfit and styling videos, travel content, food reviews, and TV show reviews.
My content is very much based on what I’m genuinely interested in and what I’m experiencing at the time. Rather than limiting myself to one specific niche, I enjoy having the freedom to explore different types of content while allowing my personality to be the common thread throughout everything I create.
I also enjoy the creative process behind content creation, from coming up with ideas and filming to editing and finding ways to make my videos engaging. My goal is to create content that feels authentic, entertaining, and relatable while continuing to grow my platform and connect with people who enjoy following along with my life.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I grew up in Tuskegee, Alabama, a small town where there was essentially one school for everything—one elementary school, one middle school, one high school, and so on. Growing up in a small town definitely shaped me and gave me a strong sense of community.
I’ve always been a confident person and, from a young age, I knew who I was. I’ve always been interested in fashion, getting dressed up, taking pictures, and putting effort into my appearance. I’ve always known that I was beautiful, and I think that confidence has continued to play a big role in how I express myself today.
Academically, I’ve always been a strong student. I consistently made the A honor roll, was an honor student, and graduated in the top 10% of my class, ranking fourth overall. I was also very active outside of the classroom. I played basketball and cheered growing up, which taught me how to be disciplined, work with others, and stay committed to the things I cared about.
Overall, I would describe myself growing up as confident, smart, active, and very much myself. Even at a young age, I liked doing what made me happy and expressing myself in my own way, which I think is still a big part of who I am today.
