Exploring Life & Business with Dr. Sha’Rose Erion of Rose Pelvic Physiotherapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Sha’Rose Erion.

Hi Dr. Sha’Rose, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My path to where I am today is rooted in a simple, vital truth: I spent years in spaces that didn’t allow me the fullness of who I am.

As a bisexual Black woman, a mother of two, and a proud loved one of a transgender person, I spent a lot of time masking to fit in and compartmentalizing the parts of my identity that were being ignored. By 2022, that friction became unsustainable as I was experiencing panic attacks simply at the thought of going to work. That breaking point became my catalyst. I decided I couldn’t keep trying to shrink myself, so I created my own space to exist, Rose Pelvic Physiotherapy.

I knew right away that I couldn’t build something meaningful in isolation, so I turned to my community. I went where my people were, showing up at local events and building genuine connections. I leaned into the work I was meant to do. This included destigmatizing sexual health. I began speaking openly and proudly about sexual health and owning my bisexual identity without hesitation or shame.

I began championing maternal & perinatal mental health. I became a fierce advocate for perinatal and mental health, with a specific focus on confronting the alarming Black maternal mortality rates we face right here in Alabama.

I started openly advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. After recognizing a critical gap in care, I became one of the few providers in the state dedicated to treating and advocating for non-binary and transgender individuals.

Today, my business and my advocacy are extensions of that personal liberation. By refusing to hide, I’ve been able to build a practice and a presence that not only allows me to exist in my fullness, but creates safe, affirming spaces for others to do the same.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. Stepping into my authentic power and building something from the ground up invites resistance, and I have faced significant hurdles along the way.

As a Black woman entering business spaces historically dominated by white men, I have faced systemic barriers and racism that required me to constantly assert my value and authority. Because the work I do centers on sexual liberation and education, I have also frequently encountered backlash, shaming, and judgment from folks who are uncomfortable with destigmatizing sexual health.

Beyond external prejudice, I have had to weather unexpected competition in spaces I never imagined—including individuals who felt so threatened by my presence and impact that they actively tried to undermine my business to others. Entrepreneurship itself brought steep learning curves, particularly the overwhelming task of teaching myself financial management and budgeting from scratch. On top of all of this, I have continuously struggled with mental health as I navigate the balancing act of running a business while pouring into my marriage, motherhood, friendships, and trying to carve out space for myself.

These challenges haven’t stopped me, but they have tested my resilience, taught me deep lessons in discernment, and shown me just how vital it is to protect my peace while doing this work.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Rose Pelvic Physiotherapy?
Rose Pelvic Physiotherapy was created specifically for folks who want non-traditional care that honors their entire lived experience. When people work with us, they are stepping into a space designed entirely around their autonomy and healing.

What truly sets me apart is my global perspective and specialized training. I completed hands-on training in Australia with leading physiotherapists and brought those advanced techniques back to the United States. Rather than imposing rigid protocols, I collaborate directly with my people, utilizing a deeply holistic method that takes into account social, physical, mental, psychological, environmental, and emotional health. Operating fully through telehealth allows me to meet people wherever they are, though I primarily serve clients throughout the state of Alabama.

Clinically, I specialize in Black maternal health, sexual health, and transgender health, creating personalized treatment plans designed to make sustainable, long-term changes. In fact, my ultimate goal with every client is to give them the tools they need so that I can eventually “fire myself.”

Brand-wise, what I am most proud of is the unique energy and trust we build. My trade secret is that during our sessions, I am one of your lil friends, but on paper, I am Dr. Sha’Rose. That blend of professional clinical expertise and genuine, human connection is the heartbeat of our brand.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has certainly played its part, taking the form of both unexpected blessings and tough lessons. I have been deeply lucky to surround myself with a community of supportive, understanding, and patient people who have held space for me through every transition. I have also been lucky enough to stumble upon free or reduced resources right when I needed them, which allowed me to keep moving forward and learning during times when capital was tight.

On the flip side, I have experienced what you might call bad luck or hard knocks when it comes to money management and finances, especially early on. Those financial stumbles were painful, but they forced me to learn hard lessons on budgeting and financial literacy both personally and in business, transforming a weak spot into a vital skill for my survival and growth.
