Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashton Calvert.
Hi Ashton, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my photography business in 2022 and shot my first wedding in that year. In the beginning of 2023 I had a couple reach out to me about capturing their wedding in Como, Italy. I think that was the moment that my business really kicked off with shooting weddings. I went to the Dolomites for a wedding in 2025 and at that time I was in my first trimester of pregnancy with our third baby. I continued shooting weddings all throughout my pregnancy and got back into it two weeks postpartum. This has truly been my dream and I’ve loved being a wedding photographer while also spending all the time with my babies!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I started my business I had two toddlers so I have been a mom of littles through the whole journey. I would say the biggest challenge would be when I found out I was pregnant with our third I had three weddings booked for the month of my due date. I did not want to find someone else to shoot these weddings for me unless u just absolutely had to because the couple booked me! It just all lined up perfectly and I think the Lord really had his hand in that. I felt so good postpartum so I took on those weddings and I’m so proud to say I was able to do so!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I photograph primarily weddings at this point but I also document maternity sessions and really small families who love the fun candid photos!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years I am excited to see how far I will be. I would love to shoot weddings in dream locations!
