Check Out Abby Smith’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Smith.

Hi Abby, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We were in Chicago researching which parts of the country had an abundance of happy and healthy companion animals that were euthanizing due to overpopulation and space issues. We came upon Alabama and decided to build a Rescue Center based on the theory of supply and demand. Since opening here in 2018, we have rescued and relocated over 23,000 cats and dogs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We had to earn the trust of the community and more importantly, prove to donors that we were worthy of their donations. It’s never the smoothest road as animal welfare changes drastically depending on the economy and other factors.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am incredibly proud of the work we do! We saw a huge need and built a high impact solution that has earned national recognition! We take the neglected, abused and injured animals that were basically societal throw aways, rehabilitate and heal their spirits then find forever loving homes for them! It’s an honor to work for them and change not only their lives but the lives of people who adopt and adore them.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Our success is built on relationships, transparency and shared resources.
