Today we’d like to introduce you to Journi TheArtist.

Hi Journi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a military brat, I had a lot of babysitters, but there was one in particular who always played Luther Vandross on replay. That was the only thing I look forward to was watching Luther Vandross get on that stage, sweat and sing from his soul. My ears hearing Whitney Houston for the first time discovering the magic of Michael Jackson. A full music concoction that inspired me. These feelings ushered me into my destiny. Music is what’s kept me through life my music has been my light.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh, it has been an experience a learning experience for sure. The music, business (ahem) it’s a business learning the business side, especially as an independent artist is interesting. I’m happy to learn but, thank God for friends in the music business that can truly guide you and be supportive when you need it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer, songwriter producer, creator. I’m an artist I am known for seasons of love and woman’s woman. I lead with confidence, sultry calm energy my aura shines just like my smile. I most proud of my team and I. Really grateful the people that’s around me. That’s what I’m proud of. I’m proud of my circle cause we’re all going up.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that Birmingham is so full and rich of eclectic artists. I love the entrepreneurial spirit that Birmingham has. The least thing about my city oh, when they don’t have my sweet tea; If I go to a restaurant and the tea is not sweet, I feel type of way. Alabama has some of the best sweet tea no slacking allowed.
