Community Highlights: Meet Mario Brown of Life Matters with Mario Brown, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Brown

Hi Mario, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey towards becoming a Transformation Strategist and immersing myself in this work began long before I officially launched my business. Rooted in my ministry message, I’ve always focused on understanding human relationship dynamics and offering both natural and spiritual pathways for personal transformation. In 2017, driven by a desire to reach a wider audience and fueled by empathy for those grappling with unresolved family issues and religious trauma, I took the leap to establish Life Matters with Mario Brown.

Starting with just two clients, each with their own unique struggles, I witnessed firsthand the deep need for support in navigating personal and professional challenges. One client, a corporate executive yearning for a career change towards entrepreneurship, felt lost and unfulfilled. Another, a divorcee still reeling from the aftermath, discovered through our work together that her pain stemmed from religious abuse rather than just the divorce itself. She longed to move forward in her romantic life, but was emotionally debilitated by embedded theology and beliefs that suppressed her ability to express herself fully.

As word of our transformative work spread, our client base grew organically. Guided by both faith and determination to make a positive impact, I’ve been fortunate to serve a diverse range of individuals from various backgrounds and walks of life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Establishing and growing this practice, as with any endeavor, has presented its share of challenges, both spiritual and emotional. As an empath, I naturally form deep connections with those I work with, often carrying their emotions long after our sessions conclude. It was a revelation to realize the extent to which I was absorbing their feelings without even realizing it.

I discovered the tendency to overlook and suppress certain aspects of my life while assisting others with similar issues—a humbling realization that prompted me to reassess my approach. Feeling accountable for the outcomes of our work added a layer of pressure, compelling me to refine my methods, which was a difficult but necessary step.

Another significant hurdle arose in marketing the business, particularly within the black community. As an African American man, I’m acutely aware of the historical stigma surrounding therapy and counseling services within our community. Overcoming this stigma and effectively reaching my intended audience proved to be a formidable task. While there has been a shift towards destigmatizing mental health within the black community, engaging black men remains a persistent challenge—one that I continue to grapple with.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Life Matters with Mario Brown, LLC?
My company, Life Matters with Mario Brown, LLC, was established to navigate the uncertainties that frequently arise in life, often catching us off guard at the most inconvenient times. These uncertainties impact various aspects of our lives—personal, professional, social, and emotional—much like moves in a chess game.

Life Matters with Mario Brown, LLC, offers private and affordable virtual individual coaching sessions aimed at assisting you in navigating life’s challenges. Our 3-point spiritual-based service model prioritizes non-judgmental listening, setting reasonable goals, and implementing comprehensive strategies for achieving desired outcomes. Our flagship service offerings, Transformative Thinking for Success, and Relationship Recovery, stand out as our most sought-after programs. They resonate deeply with the human experience, transcending boundaries of race, sexual orientation, national origin, or socio-economic status.

The strength and effectiveness of these programs lie in my approach, which emphasizes harm reduction through empathy, non-judgment, intentional listening, and strategic questioning. By prompting clients to delve inward, these programs empower individuals to discover genuine, authentic answers without external influence. While I can’t definitively say what sets me apart from other similar services, I believe my sensitivity to each client’s unique personality contributes significantly to my success. When someone seeks counseling or therapy, they are often ready for an emotional journey, and I respect the gravity of that decision.

Although I honor foundational coaching methods, I avoid a “one size fits all” approach. Instead, I tailor my methods to each client’s needs, which involves building trust and carefully observing their temperament. Every client receives a customized plan designed to suit their learning style and specific needs. I am extremely proud that Life Matters has become a trusted resource for a diverse clientele, including stay-at-home moms, doctors, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and a good deal of military personnel. What truly defines my company is its foundation of empathy and love for human life.

In a world where authentic empathy and the actions it inspires seem to fade, I remain fully committed to caring for others. I invite anyone who is struggling to find their true path, recovering from a broken relationship, seeking to heal from religious abuse, or looking to transform their life through new perspectives to reach out. I am ready to connect with and support you on your journey.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The COVID-19 pandemic was a tragic, dark, and devastating period for the world, bringing immense grief, fear, pain, and sorrow. However, one of the greatest lessons I learned is that crises often give rise to new ideas, divine workarounds, and suppressed creativity. I realized that many things I had taken for granted, postponed, or even feared doing, could no longer be ignored or tolerated. During the pandemic, I discovered an untapped resilience within us that emerges when we need it most. Amid the chaos of COVID-19, I also witnessed acts of empathy and compassion, which provided much-needed reassurance that there are still kind and caring people in the world. COVID-19 taught me that the Most High has instilled within each of us dimensions of creativity and untapped ideas. When the demand arises, so does the supply.
