Conversations with Christopher Pugh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Pugh.

Hi christopher, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in 2004 as a young kid just freestyling with no hopes dreams ambitions for dance. I just loved moving around and the feeling it gave me;pure joy. I’ve ended up where I’m at by Gods grace mercy blessings and design. I’ve had so much help in my journey from a lot of people during my journey. They paid it forward for me. I’ve remained consistent persistent intentional curious focused and honest with myself throughout my story. I come from a city where the arts aren’t as supported especially when you’re African American and male while doing it. I didn’t choose dance it chose me if I’m being honest. Ultimately I started my crew in 2021 with the goal of competing at World of dance,it turned into something bigger and I stuck with it. I got tired of trying to join everybody else’s company group etc when I figured I could make my own and provide something for the 18+ dancer in my city that aspires to dance at the highest level to the best of my ability. My city doesn’t get many opportunities so I wanted to help bring more light to the Bham dancer.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Pushback from those that don’t understand cause you’re doing something they’ve never seen before. Many don’t see dance as a realistic sustainable career. The biggest was trying to live a safe life(guaranteed income,401k,benefits,etc)vs a high risk artistic entertainment lifestyle/do what I love. Making room for both was hard. Also being a consistent leader was hard cause nobody could really tell me how I’d respond and the responsibility/accountability/demand that comes with it. Being set apart was lonely at times.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional dancer with skills within freestyle, choreography, performance, essentially anything dance related. I specialize within bringing music and visions to life through movement. I’m most proud of the fact I’m able to give other dancers in my city like myself space discipline and opportunity to learn grow and create as well;paying it forward as others did for me. What sets me apart is my mindset, besides the physical skillset,I also have a very intentional direct curiously consistent and persistent approach towards dance. I don’t wait for opportunities,I stay proactive and make them or seek them out.

I’m also now part of the Atlanta Hawks 2026-2027 Flight crew: hype squad so catch me proving quality in-game live entertainment for the season to the fans/attendees. It’s my first season.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
