Today we’d like to introduce you to Khadijah Page.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey has been one of faith, resilience, growth, and learning how to keep going even when life doesn’t go as planned. I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist for over 13 years, and what started as a passion for hair has grown into a business, a brand, and a much bigger vision for my future.
I started my entrepreneurial journey knowing that I wanted to create something of my own. Hair has always been more than just a service to me. It’s an opportunity to help people feel beautiful, confident, and good about themselves. In 2018, I established KPage Hair Studio, and from there, I continued to grow not only as a hairstylist but also as a businesswoman, educator, and mentor.
My journey hasn’t always been easy. Moving from Kansas City, Missouri, to Birmingham, Alabama, brought new experiences, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Being a single mother while building a business has taught me the importance of perseverance, sacrifice, and staying focused on the future I want to create for my son. I’ve experienced seasons of uncertainty, personal challenges, and loss, and there have been moments when I’ve had to remind myself of the very reasons I started but through every season, I’ve learned that difficult circumstances do not have to be the end of your story.
One of the most important parts of my journey has been my faith and the community God has placed around me. Refresh Family Church has been a meaningful part of my spiritual growth, and my amazing Apostle, Stephen A. Davis, has helped shape me, challenge me, and encourage me to grow into the person I am today. Through the leadership, guidance, and spiritual foundation I’ve gained, I’ve continued to discover more about myself, my purpose, and what it means to walk confidently in what God has called me to do. My church, family, friends and the community around me have reminded me of the importance of staying grounded, continuing to grow, and understanding that there is purpose even in the seasons that are not easy. I am grateful for the people who have poured into me, prayed for me, encouraged me, and helped me see the potential in myself even while I was still figuring things out.
As I continued to grow in my career, I realized that my vision extended beyond providing hairstyling services. I wanted to build something that could reach more people and create opportunities beyond my chair. That vision led me to develop SHEKARE Luxury Hair Products, my haircare brand, which represents another step toward building a lasting legacy. Developing my own product line has pushed me to think bigger, learn new aspects of business, and step outside my comfort zone. I’m working toward expanding the brand, reaching more customers, and creating something that can continue to grow for years to come.
Giving back has also become an important part of who I am. I believe that when God gives you a gift, it should be used for more than your own success. Through volunteering, serving, mentoring, and participating in community initiatives, I’ve found ways to use my skills and experiences to encourage and uplift others. Being recognized as Beautician of the Year in Birmingham in 2025 was a meaningful milestone, but it also reminded me that the work I do can have an impact beyond what I sometimes see.
Today, I’m still growing, still learning, and still building. My vision includes expanding SHEKARE, creating educational opportunities for aspiring beauty professionals and young people, and eventually developing spaces where beauty professionals can grow their own businesses, share their gifts, and build sustainable careers.
When I look back at my journey, I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I’m just as excited about where God is taking me. I don’t share my story because I have everything figured out. I share it because I know what it feels like to have a vision while still working through the challenges of getting there. I want other women, especially mothers and aspiring entrepreneurs, to understand that your circumstances do not have to determine your destination. You can face challenges, experience setbacks, change direction, and still build something meaningful.
For me, this journey has never been just about hair or business. It’s about faith, purpose, motherhood, community, and creating a legacy for my son. It’s about using my gifts to serve others while continuing to become the woman God has called me to be. I’m grateful for every lesson, every person who has played a part in my growth, and every opportunity that has helped shape me along the way. My story is still being written, and I believe some of my greatest accomplishments are still ahead of me
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road has definitely not been smooth. My journey has come with challenges that have tested me personally, emotionally, and professionally. One of my biggest challenges has been balancing motherhood as a single mom while building my business and working toward a better future for my son. Entrepreneurship comes with sacrifices, financial pressures, long hours, and moments when you have to figure things out without having all the answers.
I’ve also experienced difficult personal seasons, loss, and moments when I felt overwhelmed and uncertain about what was next. I’ve learned that being strong doesn’t mean you never get tired, and having faith doesn’t mean you never face challenges. Sometimes, it means trusting God even when you can’t see how everything will work out.
Growing KPage Hair Studio and developing SHEKARE Luxury Hair Products have pushed me outside my comfort zone and taught me patience, discipline, and the importance of believing in the vision God has placed in my heart. My faith, my community, Refresh Family Church, and my amazing Apostle, Stephen A. Davis, have all played a meaningful role in encouraging my spiritual growth and helping shape the woman I am becoming.
Through it all, I’ve learned that setbacks don’t mean you’re failing, and delays don’t mean your dreams won’t happen. Every challenge has taught me something about myself, strengthened my faith, and reminded me why I started. I’m still growing and working toward my goals, but I’m proud of the strength it has taken to keep going. My journey hasn’t been easy, but I’m determined not to let the difficult seasons define my story or limit what I believe is possible for my future.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed cosmetologist with more than 13 years of experience in the beauty industry, the owner of KPage Hair Studio, and the founder of SHEKARE Luxury Hair Products. Throughout my career, I have built my work around healthy hair care, silk presses, color, extensions, and helping clients feel confident in their own beauty. I also value the opportunity to educate and encourage others who are pursuing their own path in the beauty industry.
My journey has grown far beyond providing salon services. Creating SHEKARE allowed me to combine my professional knowledge with my passion for quality hair care and develop products that reflect the standards I believe in. Through the brand, I hope to reach more people, support healthy hair journeys, and continue building something meaningful for my clients and community.
I believe my greatest strength is the personal connection I create through my work. Every client has different needs, goals, and experiences, so I take pride in providing care that is both professional and personal. Whether I am styling hair, sharing knowledge, or encouraging someone to believe in their potential, I want people to leave feeling valued, confident, and inspired.
As I continue to grow, I am focused on building a lasting legacy through my businesses, my faith, and my commitment to others. I want my son to see the importance of purpose, perseverance, and using your gifts to make a difference. My vision is to continue expanding SHEKARE, creating opportunities for education and mentorship, and making a positive impact through the beauty industry.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was pretty much a tomboy! My mom had three boys before me, so I grew up around my brothers and naturally took on some of those same interests. I was a pretty normal kid who enjoyed sports, running track, spending time with my family, and playing with my cousins. My mom had a lot of siblings, so my cousins and I were very close, and I spent a lot of my childhood with them creating memories.
I also had a creative side. While my siblings were involved in the band, I was in the orchestra, where I played the violin for about four years. Looking back, I can see that I always had a little bit of both worlds in me the athletic side and the creative side.
Around the age of 14, I started watching my cousin do hair, and that’s when my interest in the beauty industry began. I knew I wanted to do hair, even though I didn’t realize back then just how seriously I would pursue it or how much it would eventually become a part of my life. At the time, it was simply something I enjoyed and was curious about.
When I look back on my childhood, I remember being surrounded by family, staying active, exploring my interests, and enjoying life as a kid. I didn’t know then that the little interest I developed in doing hair would eventually grow into a career, my own businesses, and a vision much bigger than I could have imagined.
