Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Boring.
Hi Mark, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello and thank you for the opportunity! My name is Mark.
My business title is, SMB/Photographics.
I am from Plano, Illinois and I’ve lived over half my life in Alabama. I’m based in Leeds, Alabama.
I’ve had a pretty strong fascination with photography in many forms for most of my life.
To be able to capture and freeze a moment in time with a picture is just so fantastic.
I spent several years framing pictures, for a living.
I’ve spent time shooting conventions and events, family photos, street scenes and so forth.
For a short period, I served in the U.S. Coast Guard and there was so much to document there, as you might well imagine.
I’ve dedicated most all my free time to photography for roughly 12-years now, I think. I really do love every minute of it and just can’t get enough.
Through social media and group-shoot events, I’ve met so many talented people both photographers and models.
I don’t really consider what I do to be, ‘good work’ but rather, a constant effort to improve on what I’ve learned so far.
I’ve got some fabulous shooting partners I work with regularly and some I’ve worked with for nearly 9-years.
They are all so very talented and I am grateful for the privilege of shooting with every partner I’ve had.
I’m rarely satisfied with my work on a shooting project but I am proud of what we do.
I shoot studio and location photography. I shoot most often a venue in Alabama, Tennessee, Florida or Georgia but, there are no limitations!
For me one of the greatest challenges of all is, location.
I never imagined that “location” would be such a challenge but in my case, it is.
There are so many obstacles and things to consider when deciding on location because when travel is required, shooting on location indoors or outdoors, we never truly know what the circumstances will be until we get there. We have to adapt quickly.
I’m having a really great time and working to improve what I do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’d say so and success comes with patience. Gotta have patience.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work to create mood . . . I think that’s my number one goal.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love to shoot in Nashville. The people are great and the spaces I’ve used there often have an artistic flair that can be hard to find in my region.
