Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy & Russell Seuradge.
Hi Cassidy & Russell, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Terrapin Turf grew out of a gap we noticed in lawn care service after relocating to Alabama from the West Coast. We saw an opportunity to bring a more intentional, science-driven approach to lawn care to the Tuscaloosa & Northport communities – one that prioritized soil health, responsible product use, and long-term results rather than quick-fixes.
We are a husband and wife team. Russell brings more than a decade of experience in organic-based lawn care and has seen firsthand how effective sustainable lawn chemical programs can be. Cassidy comes from a regulatory and policy background, with experience in product safety, pesticide regulation, environmental stewardship, and public health. Combining those two perspectives gave us the confidence to build a company rooted in practical results and informed decision-making.
We launched in early 2026 as a fully owner-operated business. Russell personally handles every service visit, while Cassidy manages operations and customer communication. One thing that sets us apart is that we view lawn care as a partnership with the homeowner. Great results come from consistent care, good cultural practices, and helping customers understand how to support the health of their lawn between visits. Education is a big part of what we do.
We are still in the active growth phase, building our client base one lawn at a time and earning trust through transparency, consistency, and results.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a company from the ground up comes with a lot of uncertainty, especially when you’re entering a market where many customers are used to conventional lawn care approaches and may not immediately understand the differences in the services we offer. One major challenge has been building everything ourselves from the ground up while wearing multiple hats every day. From marketing and customer acquisition to scheduling, operations, field work, and business development, we’ve had to learn how to balance growth with maintaining the level of quality and personal service that defines our brand.
Another challenge has been navigating the regulatory environment. Every state has its own licensing requirements, regulations. climate considerations, and cultural practices. There was a bit of a learning curve adapting our knowledge and experience to a different region.
We have also spent a lot of time balancing education and growth. We are dedicated to helping customers understand that healthy lawns are built over time through soil health, proper mowing, watering practices, and consistency. In many ways, effective lawn care is a partnership and building that trust takes time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Terrapin Turf LLC?
Terrapin Turf is a science-driven lawn care company focused on helping residential and commercial properties grow healthier, greener, more resilient lawns through customized treatment programs and responsible practices. We specialize in fertilization, weed control, disease and insect management, aeration, overseeding, and soil health solutions designed specifically for Southern lawns.
Our mission is to provide exceptional lawn care using reduced-risk, organic-based products that deliver thick, lush grass people can truly feel good about. We believe outdoor spaces should be places where families play, pets roam, and nature thrives — while still looking their absolute best.
What sets us apart is our combination of technical knowledge, personalized service, and genuine care for both our customers and the environment. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all lawn care. Every property is different, so we take the time to evaluate each lawn individually, educate customers on the “why” behind our recommendations, and create programs tailored to their goals and budget. We see lawn care as a partnership, not just a service.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of building a company rooted in integrity, environmental stewardship, and community. We stay current on industry research, evolving regulations, and modern best practices so we can provide professional results while being thoughtful about the products and methods we use. At the end of the day, we want people to know that when they choose Terrapin Turf, they’re choosing local expertise, honest communication, and a team that genuinely cares about helping their property thrive.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We think luck definitely plays a role in life and business, but preparation, adaptability, and persistence determine what you do with it. We’ve experienced both good luck and bad luck along the way. Some opportunities came from meeting the right people at the right time, while other challenges forced us to pivot, learn quickly, and become more resourceful.
Navigating career changes, health challenges, relocating across the country, and starting over in a new market pushed us to bet on ourselves and build something aligned with our values and strengths. In many ways, Terrapin Turf was born out of that transition. Looking back, some of the hardest moments ended up giving us the clarity and motivation to create something of our own.
We also feel fortunate that our backgrounds complement each other so well. Cassidy brings regulatory policy experience and a strong understanding of compliance and environmental frameworks, while Russell brings a chemistry background and years of hands-on experience in organic-based lawn care and plant health. That combination gave us a unique perspective when building Terrapin Turf — blending science, practical field knowledge, and responsible stewardship into the foundation of the company.
At the end of the day, we try not to rely on luck alone. We focus on staying adaptable, continuing to learn, treating people well, and being prepared when opportunities come our way.
