Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamia Howard.
Hi Tamia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into photography began with a simple passion for capturing life’s most meaningful moments. What started as a creative hobby quickly grew into something much bigger as I realized the joy and emotion that photographs can preserve. Over the years, I dedicated myself to learning, growing, and perfecting my craft, turning that passion into Memories By Mia Photography. Today, I have the privilege of documenting weddings, families, and life’s biggest milestones, creating timeless images that my clients can cherish for generations. Photography is more than a career to me, it’s a way to tell stories, celebrate love, and preserve memories that last a lifetime.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth journey. Starting my photography business at just 16, I often faced people doubting me because of my age. I also struggled with people-pleasing and learning to set boundaries. I began my business by photographing clients in my own home, and through hard work and determination, I eventually grew into owning my own photography studio. Each challenge helped shape me into the photographer and business owner I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Memories By Mia Photography is a photography business dedicated to capturing life’s most meaningful moments with timeless, heartfelt imagery. We specialize in weddings, engagements, maternity, newborn, family, branding, and milestone portraits. Our goal is to create a comfortable and enjoyable experience for every client while preserving genuine emotions and memories that will be cherished for years to come. We believe every story deserves to be told beautifully through photography.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very shy growing up always to myself so with being a photographer meeting new people everyday is still a challenge
