Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Adams.
Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a physician by training, and my path into aesthetics wasn’t something I originally planned. I began my career in internal/emergency medicine, but I was introduced to aesthetic medicine early in my training and became fascinated by the combination of medicine, precision, artistry, and the confidence that can come from helping someone feel more like themselves.
I practiced aesthetics alongside emergency medicine for years and eventually built my own functional aesthetic practice in Mississippi. Over time, I realized that what interested me most wasn’t doing more, it was doing one thing exceptionally well. Neurotoxins were the treatment I love, and I also began to see an opportunity to rethink the traditional aesthetic experience around them.
When my family moved to Birmingham, it gave me the chance to start with a blank slate. I began asking what the experience could look like if we removed some of the things that make aesthetics feel complicated or intimidating: long menus of treatments, conversations centered around units, unpredictable pricing, and the pressure to do more.
That became STILL.
STILL is a physician-led studio focused specifically on neurotoxin treatments, with transparent flat-fee pricing and an approach centered on thoughtful, natural-looking results. But more than anything, I wanted to create a place that feels different. Calm, welcoming, beautiful, and uncomplicated, a place where someone can walk in, feel taken care of, and then get back to their life.
Looking back, STILL feels less like a departure from everything I’ve done and more like the culmination of it. My medical training taught me how seriously to take the medicine. Years of injecting taught me the importance of restraint and precision. And owning a practice taught me that how someone feels while they’re in your care matters just as much as the treatment itself.
We’re still very much at the beginning of the STILL story, which is probably the part I’m most excited about.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not and I think that has been an important part of the process.
One of the biggest challenges was starting over in a new city after having spent years building a practice, reputation, and patient relationships in Mississippi. Moving to Birmingham meant leaving behind something established and becoming new again. That was both humbling and exciting.
Building STILL presented a different kind of challenge because we weren’t simply opening another traditional aesthetic practice. We were intentionally narrowing the focus and questioning many of the conventions of the industry: how treatments are priced, how patients make decisions, what the experience feels like, and even what we choose not to offer. When you create something that doesn’t fit neatly into an existing model, there isn’t always a roadmap to follow.
I’ve also learned that being a physician and being a business owner require very different skill sets. Medicine trains you to be precise, decisive, and personally accountable for the outcome. Building a company requires you to communicate a vision, trust other people to execute it, and accept that not everything will be done exactly the way you would have done it yourself. That has probably been one of my greatest areas of growth.
There have certainly been mistakes, changes in direction, and moments when things took longer or were harder than I anticipated. But each of those experiences has forced me to become clearer about what STILL is, what it isn’t, and what kind of company I ultimately want to build.
So no, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road but I don’t think I would want it to have been. The difficult parts have shaped the business just as much as the successes have.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
STILL is a physician-led an aesthetic studio in Birmingham focused exclusively on neurotoxin treatments. We specialize in treatments like Botox, Dysport, and other FDA-approved neurotoxins, but what really defines us is the philosophy behind how we practice: less, better.
The aesthetic industry has become incredibly complex. Patients are often presented with long treatment menus, different products, price-per-unit calculations, memberships, add-ons, and an endless stream of messaging about what they should change about themselves. I wanted STILL to feel like the opposite of that.
We intentionally narrowed our focus so that we could become exceptionally good at one thing. Our treatments are thoughtfully mapped and personalized to the individual, with an emphasis on natural movement and results that make someone look refreshed rather than noticeably “done.” We also use transparent, flat-fee pricing rather than asking patients to calculate units or make medical decisions based on cost.
I think what sets STILL apart most, though, is the experience. We designed every part of the brand around removing friction from the physical space and the way appointments flow to the language we use with patients. You shouldn’t have to become an expert in aesthetic medicine before walking through our doors. That is our job.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that STILL has a very clear point of view. We aren’t trying to be everything to everyone, and we aren’t interested in convincing people that they need more. In an industry that can sometimes make women feel as though there is always something else to fix, I want STILL to communicate something very different: you can care about how you look without believing there is something wrong with the way you look now.
Ultimately, we aren’t trying to sell Botox. We are building an experience around trust; trust in the person treating you, trust that the recommendation is thoughtful, and trust that sometimes the best answer really is to do less.
That is what LESS, BETTER. means to us, and it is probably the part of STILL I am most proud of.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The best way to support STILL is simply to experience it. Come see us, tell us what you think, and if you love the experience, tell someone else about it. As a growing local business, there is really nothing more meaningful than someone trusting us enough to recommend STILL to a friend.
We also love collaborating with other Birmingham businesses, organizations, and people who share our approach to thoughtful experiences and genuine connection. We host private STILL Socials, community events, and corporate gatherings, and we’re always open to creative partnerships that feel authentic to both brands.
On a personal level, I love meeting people who are building interesting things. Some of the best ideas and relationships have come from simply sitting down with someone, hearing what they’re working on, and asking, “What could we create together?”
More than anything, I hope people will come experience STILL for themselves. We’re building something we believe is genuinely different, and I’d love for Birmingham to be part of where it goes next.
