Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Powell.
Hi Elizabeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My love for thrifting started when I was a kid. My mom took me thrift shopping regularly, and while I didn’t always appreciate it at the time, those experiences ended up shaping a huge part of my future.
Years later, as an adult, I rediscovered thrifting and became passionate about finding affordable, unique pieces for both my home and my wardrobe. I started sharing thrifted outfits, secondhand home décor, and cozy living inspiration online. What began as a creative outlet quickly grew into a community of people who shared my love for thrifting and creating a beautiful life on a budget.
As my audience grew, I decided to take the next step and began selling curated thrifted finds online through Shop Go Cozy. Over time, I expanded beyond online sales and opened a booth at a local flea market, where I could connect with customers in person and give thrifted treasures a second life. The combination of online content creation, e-commerce, and in-person selling allowed me to turn a hobby into a business.
Today, Shop Go Cozy is centered around helping people discover the beauty and value of secondhand living. Whether it’s a thrifted outfit, a vintage home décor piece, or inspiration for creating a cozy home, my goal is to show that you don’t need a large budget to create a life and space you love. What started with childhood trips to the thrift store has grown into a business that I’m incredibly grateful for.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve faced my share of challenges along the way. One of the biggest struggles has been learning how to wear so many different hats at once. As the owner of, I’m responsible for sourcing inventory, creating content, managing social media, running the online store, selling at the flea market, handling customer service, and everything in between.
Another challenge has been navigating growth and change. What started as simply sharing thrifted outfits and home décor online gradually evolved into selling curated finds online and eventually opening a flea market booth. With each new step came a learning curve, and there were plenty of moments where I had to figure things out through trial and error.
I’ve also learned that building an audience and growing a business takes time. There have been many seasons where growth felt slow or where certain ideas didn’t work out the way I hoped. But those experiences taught me to stay adaptable, keep learning, and focus on the big picture rather than chasing quick results.
Looking back, the challenges have actually been some of the most valuable parts of the journey because they’ve helped me become a better business owner and have shaped Go Cozy into what it is today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Go Cozy is a thrifted home décor, fashion, and lifestyle brand focused on helping people create a beautiful, cozy life without spending a fortune. Through my online platforms, I share thrifted home décor finds, secondhand fashion, styling inspiration, DIY projects, and practical tips for decorating and dressing well on a budget. I also curate and sell unique thrifted and vintage pieces through my flea market booth, as well as original artwork that I create and sell through my website.
What sets Go Cozy apart is that I focus on both the home and personal style. I love showing people that thrift stores are filled with opportunities—not just for decorating your home, but for building a wardrobe that feels unique and personal. Whether it’s a vintage lamp, a cozy throw blanket, a designer dress, a timeless wardrobe staple, or a piece of original artwork, I enjoy helping people discover ways to create a home and lifestyle that reflects who they are.
At its core, Go Cozy is about making style accessible. I believe you don’t need a large budget to create a home you love or a wardrobe that makes you feel confident. By sharing thrifted outfit ideas, home styling tips, creative projects, and secondhand finds, I hope to inspire others to shop more intentionally, embrace creativity, and see the value in items that others may overlook.
What I’m most proud of is how adaptable I’ve learned to become throughout my entrepreneurial journey. As Go Cozy has grown and evolved—from sharing thrifted finds online, to selling products through my website, creating original artwork, and operating a flea market booth—I’ve learned how to pivot, embrace new opportunities, and continuously adapt to the needs of my customers and community. Building a successful business requires flexibility, and that willingness to evolve has been one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned.
I’m also incredibly proud of the community that has grown around the brand. What started as simply sharing my love of thrifting has become a space where people connect over creativity, affordable style, and the joy of creating a cozy home. I want readers to know that Go Cozy is about more than thrifting—it’s about finding beauty in unexpected places, expressing your personal style, and creating a lifestyle that feels uniquely your own.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned throughout my journey is that success rarely happens overnight. In a world where it’s easy to compare yourself to others and feel like everyone else is growing faster, I’ve learned that building something meaningful takes time, consistency, and patience.
When I first started sharing thrifted finds and decorating inspiration online, I had no idea where it would lead. Over the years, Go Cozy has evolved in ways I never expected— from creating content, selling online, and even opening my own flea market booth. None of these opportunities happened all at once. They came from showing up consistently, being willing to learn, and staying open to change.
I’ve also learned the importance of adaptability. Not every idea works, trends change, and sometimes you have to pivot when things aren’t going as planned. Instead of viewing those moments as failures, I’ve learned to see them as valuable experiences and to refine my vision.
Most importantly, I’ve learned that numbers are not the most important thing. While growth and sales are important, the most rewarding part of my journey has been connecting with people who share a love for creativity, thrifting, and creating a cozy home. Those relationships and the impact I’ve been able to have on others are what make the journey worthwhile.
