Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Pettway.
Hi Christopher, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hey. My name is Christopher Pettway. I am owner/operator of Pettway Arctic Flame Heating & Air. My business was formed in May of 26. I have over six years of HVAC experience. This all started for me as me trying to figure out what it was, I wanted to do for a career. I saw my now brother-in-law take on this trade and saw how he went from the bottom of the totem pole to a good position within a short time frame; so, I decided to give it a try. I went to Fortis College and graduated on the Dean’s List. From there I went straight into the field working for a company. I almost got comfortable with just working for someone else, then I decided to give the contractors test a shot. I failed my first attempt. Went and tested again six months later and passed. Once I passed the contractors test, I’ve been building my business since. I am not where I want to be just yet, but I am further than I was yesterday.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve had no one show me the ropes. I’m still learning as I go, but that makes me go harder because I have a lot to prove to myself and no one else.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am owner/operator of Pettway Arctic Flame Heating & Air. I am an HVAC technician and owner of an HVAC business. I specialize in repair and installs in the HVAC field. I am most proud of not being content with the job I had and actually betting on myself for my wife and son’s future. The thing that sets me apart from other HVAC techs and companies is that I have a conscious and treat every customer like I’d want someone to treat my family and loved ones.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that most people don’t know is I never knew anything about HVAC work six years ago, but I was dedicated to learning, and I’ve come this far and a lot of people think that I’ve been doing this a lot longer than six years.
