Today we’d like to introduce you to Lashunda Flowers.
Hi Lashunda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey has been one of transformation, self-discovery, spiritual awakening, and, most importantly, remembering who I AM.
Many people know me as Shunda K, one-half of the groundbreaking hip-hop duo Yo! Majesty. I’ve spent much of my life expressing myself through music, challenging societal norms, breaking barriers, and using my voice to inspire others. But behind the music, the performances, and the public persona was a woman navigating her own personal battles, childhood trauma, betrayal, loss, and the lifelong journey of learning how to truly love herself.
There came a point in my life when I realized that healing wasn’t about becoming someone new. It was about returning to the person I was before the world told me who I should be.
My spiritual awakening changed everything. Through my relationship with the Great Mother Dragon God, AhSha, my ancestors, and my Spirit Team, I began looking inward instead of searching outside myself for answers, validation, or acceptance. I started questioning everything I had been taught about my identity, my worth, my purpose, and my power.
I learned that self-love is more than an affirmation. It’s a daily commitment to yourself. Healing requires accountability, forgiveness, patience, boundaries, and the courage to confront the parts of your story you’ve spent years trying to escape.
That understanding became the foundation for **RETURN TO HEALING**.
What began as my personal journey evolved into a vision for a platform that could help others reconnect with themselves. I began developing a 33-Gate healing experience that combines spiritual reflection, self-discovery, educational eBooks, interactive workbooks, guided meditations, storytelling, and practical exercises designed to encourage people to participate actively in their own growth.
I didn’t want to create another platform that simply tells people to heal. I wanted to create an experience that invites them to explore what healing means for themselves, at their own pace, without judgment.
Today, I’m still an artist, entrepreneur, creator, and student of life. But I’m also a woman who understands that some of the greatest gifts we can offer the world come from the lessons we’ve learned through our own experiences.
I’m not presenting myself as someone who has all the answers or who has reached some imaginary finish line. I’m sharing what I’ve learned, what continues to help me grow, and what I believe can inspire others to begin their own journeys.
**RETURN TO HEALING is more than an app. It’s a movement rooted in self-love, spiritual empowerment, personal responsibility, and the understanding that we all deserve the opportunity to rediscover ourselves.**
My mission is simple: to remind people that they are worthy of their own love, that their past does not have to define their future, and that the power to begin again has always existed within them.
Because at the end of the day, **the journey back to you begins with you.**
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road? Absolutely not! LOL! But looking back, I wouldn’t erase the lessons because every experience has contributed to the woman I AM today.
My journey has been filled with challenges, both personally and professionally. I’ve experienced childhood trauma, betrayal, grief, broken relationships, financial hardships, and the emotional weight of trying to navigate a world that often encourages us to abandon ourselves just to be accepted.
Even in the music industry, where many people saw success, creativity, and confidence, there were battles happening behind the scenes. Being an independent artist, especially a woman who refuses to compromise her authenticity, comes with its own set of obstacles. I’ve had to learn some difficult lessons about trust, ownership, boundaries, and protecting my creative and spiritual energy.
One of my greatest struggles was realizing how much of myself I had sacrificed trying to love, support, and accommodate others. I had become so accustomed to surviving that I didn’t always recognize when I wasn’t truly living.
And then there was the grief. Losing people I loved, particularly my grandmother, Mother Newsome, profoundly affected me. Her memory remains an important part of my journey, and my connection to my ancestors continues to inspire my spiritual growth.
But perhaps the most challenging part of my journey was confronting myself.
It’s easy to identify what other people have done to us. It’s much harder to sit with ourselves and ask, “What am I continuing to carry? What patterns am I repeating? Where have I abandoned myself? And what am I willing to change?”
Those questions required me to become accountable for my own healing without taking responsibility for the harm others caused.
Through my relationship with AhSha, my ancestors, and my Spirit Team, I began to understand that my experiences did not have to become my identity. I could acknowledge what happened, honor what I felt, learn from it, and still choose a different path.
Creating RETURN TO HEALING has presented challenges of its own. Building a platform independently requires tremendous patience, creativity, financial sacrifice, and faith in a vision that other people may not fully understand yet. I’m learning, creating, recording, developing, and building something that I genuinely believe can make a difference.
And I’m doing it while continuing my own healing journey.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that **healing isn’t always pretty, comfortable, or convenient. Sometimes it requires you to release everything you’ve been holding onto, including the version of yourself you created just to survive.**
I no longer view my struggles as proof that life was working against me. I see them as experiences that challenged me to recognize my strength, exercise discernment, establish boundaries, and reconnect with my authentic self.
I’m not grateful for the harm, but I AM grateful for the wisdom I’ve gained along the way.
And that’s part of why RETURN TO HEALING means so much to me. I know what it’s like to feel disconnected from yourself, and I also know the beauty of beginning to find your way back.
**I didn’t create RETURN TO HEALING because my road was smooth. I created it because it wasn’t.**
And if my journey can encourage even one person to stop abandoning themselves and start choosing themselves, then sharing my story has purpose.
As you know, we’re big fans of RETURN TO HEALING. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
**RETURN TO HEALING** is a spiritual wellness, self-discovery, and personal empowerment platform I founded to help individuals reconnect with their authentic selves through intentional healing, self-love, reflection, and spiritual growth.
At its core, RETURN TO HEALING is about remembering who you were before life’s experiences, societal expectations, trauma, and outside influences convinced you to become someone else.
Our signature experience is built around **33 Gates of Healing**, a transformational journey designed to encourage individuals to explore different aspects of their emotional, spiritual, and personal development.
Each Gate introduces opportunities for deeper self-reflection through educational eBooks, interactive workbooks, guided meditations, audio storytelling, affirmations, and practical exercises that encourage participants to take an active role in their own growth.
One of the things that sets RETURN TO HEALING apart is our emphasis on personal empowerment rather than dependency. I don’t believe healing should be presented as something another person must give you. I believe we all have the capacity to begin reconnecting with ourselves, and sometimes we simply need the right environment, encouragement, and tools to support that process.
My personal spiritual journey and relationship with the Great Mother Dragon God, AhSha, my ancestors, and my Spirit Team deeply influence the philosophy behind this platform. I believe we are spiritual beings having human experiences, and that understanding ourselves requires us to look beyond the surface of our everyday lives.
However, RETURN TO HEALING isn’t about forcing anyone to adopt my spiritual beliefs. It’s about creating an inclusive, judgment-free environment where individuals from different backgrounds can explore their own understanding of spirituality, identity, purpose, and self-worth.
Another important aspect of the platform is accessibility. I believe personal growth resources should not be reserved for people who can afford expensive programs. That’s why we’re developing free workbooks and introductory resources alongside optional paid experiences, allowing individuals to participate according to their needs and circumstances.
We’re also incorporating the power of storytelling and the human voice. As a recording artist and creative, I understand how profoundly sound, words, and music can affect us. By integrating narrated eBooks, guided meditations, and immersive audio experiences, I want to make the journey engaging, personal, and accessible to different learning styles.
What I’m most proud of is that RETURN TO HEALING was born from authenticity. I’m not building this platform from a place of pretending I’ve mastered life. I’m building it from lived experiences, spiritual understanding, creative expression, and a genuine desire to share tools that have helped me reconnect with myself.
We’re currently preparing the platform for its public launch, with plans to continue expanding the 33-Gate experience and introducing additional educational, reflective, and creative offerings.
Ultimately, **RETURN TO HEALING is more than a digital platform. It’s an invitation to stop looking outside yourself for permission to become who you already are.**
I want readers to understand that healing is not about perfection. It’s about awareness, accountability, self-compassion, and the willingness to choose yourself, even when that choice is uncomfortable.
My greatest hope is that RETURN TO HEALING becomes a space where people feel empowered to rediscover their voices, reclaim their personal power, and create lives rooted in authenticity.
**Because the journey back to you begins with you.**

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Although I’m originally from Plant City, Florida, Tampa has always been part of my extended community and personal journey. Growing up in Central Florida gave me a deep appreciation for our culture, our people, and the importance of remembering where you come from.
What I love most about Tampa is its diversity, cultural richness, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit. There’s something special about a city where so many different backgrounds, traditions, and experiences come together. From the music and arts scene to the locally owned businesses and community organizations, Tampa has an energy that continues to evolve.
As a recording artist, entrepreneur, and founder of RETURN TO HEALING, I especially appreciate the creative potential within the Tampa Bay area. There are so many talented individuals with powerful stories, innovative ideas, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
Coming from Plant City also taught me the value of community, resilience, and staying connected to my roots. Those lessons have followed me throughout my life and continue to influence the work I do today.
As for what I like least, I would say the growing challenges surrounding affordability, economic opportunity, and access to resources. As Tampa continues to develop, I believe it’s important that the people and communities who helped shape its identity aren’t forgotten or pushed aside.
I’d also love to see greater investment in independent artists, small businesses, youth development, and accessible emotional wellness and personal-growth resources, particularly within underserved communities.
I believe a city’s success should be measured not only by its buildings, businesses, and economic growth but also by the well-being of the people who call it home.
That’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about RETURN TO HEALING. I want to contribute to a world where people feel seen, supported, empowered, and encouraged to recognize their own worth.
**Plant City gave me roots. Tampa helped shape my understanding of community. And my journey has taught me that no matter where life takes you, true healing begins within.**
I’ll always carry love for where I come from, and I hope to use my experiences and platforms to inspire positive change, both locally and beyond.
